Fidelity Investments has launched a spin off limited liability corporation called Fidelity Digital Asset Services.

The company known as FDAS operating under the Fidelity umbrella will be dedicated exclusively to bringing cryptocurrencies to institutional investors.

In order to align itself with blockchain’s always on trading cycle, the Boston based company FDAS will provide a cryptocurrency trading platform and institutional advising services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week according to Forbes.

According to a statement by Fidelity, as part of the Fidelity Center for Applied Technology, the company discreetly began experimenting with blockchain technology in 2013 with the launch of their Blockchain Incubator.

Not long after in 2015 Fidelity Charitable (Fidelity’s non profit) began accepting crypto donations in the form of Bitcoin. As of February 2018, the donor advised fund has brought in more than $69 Million in donations making cryptocurrency the fastest kind of donation received.

On August 9, 2017 Coinbase announced on their blog, that Fidelity clients would be able to view their Coinbase balances via an integration through the Fidelity user interface.

The timeline of events I’ve just explained above paints a vivid picture that Fidelity understands the bigger picture of what blockchain technology and cryptocurrency have already done to disrupt and shake up the legacy financial and investing system, and that there is so much more to come.

DomainInvesting.com reported earlier today that Fidelity had acquired the domain name FDAS.com which is an acronym for Fidelity Digital Asset Services. The domain doesn’t yet resolve to an active website, but does show Fidelity nameservers. DI also reported that Screenshots.com showed the domain as having an asking price of $20,950. This was a smart purchase for the digital asset service in advance of their launch by Fidelity Investments.
